Our Outpatient Clinic for Hereditary Eye Diseases is located on Tenholantie in Ruskeasuo. Our outpatient clinic is open three days a week: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.
We receive patients on referral from physicians in outpatient health care, ophthalmologists, and other specialists such as geneticists.
We examine patients suspected of having a hereditary eye disease. We also monitor progress of the disease if necessary. We may examine a patient’s relatives, if that is likely to yield more information on the disease and how it is inherited. We also admit patients in cases where it is estimated that an eye examination will help identify a broader syndrome.
We examine visual functions at the Eye Hospital for the purpose of diagnosing and monitoring hereditary eye diseases. If necessary, we send our patients to another specialist department of the Eye Hospital for treatment and procedures, such as the cataract unit or the rehabilitation outpatient clinic. For genetic consultation, we refer patients to a geneticist.
