We are responsible for radiation therapy as well as for the drug therapy for cancer and treatment of hematological diseases in patients over the age of 16 in the Uusimaa region. We are also responsible for breast surgery, as well as demanding, special-level palliative care and end-of-life care.

In addition to patients from Helsinki and Uusimaa, we also treat patients from across Finland requiring specialized medical care. Diagnostic examinations and treatment are mainly carried out in the Meilahti hospital campus.

Comprehensive Cancer Center signs

The Comprehensive Cancer Center is identified with the letter C, which is shown in the signs and on the appointment letters. The number after the letter indicates the floor, for example, C5 directs the visitor to the 5th floor. C5.1 means the waiting room of the Comprehensive Cancer Center’s pharmacotherapy unit on the 5th floor or the waiting room of the outpatient clinic C5.2-5.3.

Deterioration of the cancer patient’s condition

If you experience a sudden deterioration or a fever above 38 degrees, please contact:

  • Medical Helpline 116 117, which is open 24/7 and is toll-free or
  • the nearest on-call hospital.

In case of emergency, call 112.

OLKA service point, Comprehensive Cancer Center

Welcome to the OLKA service point in Comprehensive Cancer Center! The OLKA service point is on the entrance floor of the new building section, near the café. Brochures presenting organizations are available at the service point. Theme day activities take place at the OLKA service point. Please check the monthly program at the OLKA service point to see dates of theme days.

The hospital also has volunteers. The volunteers wear light green vests. The volunteers offer unhurried encounters and are committed to confidentiality. They are there for you when you need advice on navigating in the hospital, someone to talk to, or peer support.

Oncology Ward S4B, Comprehensive Cancer Center

On Ward S4B at the Meilahti Bridge Hospital, we primarily treat patients from adolescents to the elderly who have lymphoma, sarcoma, or testicular cancer.

The Radiation Therapy Ward of the Department of Oncology is responsible for all external radiation therapies administered in the Uusimaa region.
