Most of the current functions of Töölö Hospital, such as orthopedics, traumatology, and neurosurgery, are moving to the Bridge Hospital. Operations from the Comprehensive Cancer Center and later partly from Peijas Hospital, will also move to the Bridge Hospital.

The Bridge Hospital will have an emergency department, a surgical ward, an intensive care unit, laboratory sample taking, an x-ray, outpatient clinics and inpatient wards. The hospital also has teaching and lecture facilities as well as a restaurant, a café, and a pharmacy.

The Bridge Hospital is located at Haartmaninkatu 4. The patients arrive to the Bridge Hospital through the main entrance of the Meilahti hospitals. Patients arriving with an appointment will be notified in the appointment letter if their appointment is at the Bridge Hospital.

Töölö Emergency Department moves on February 1 at 06:00 a.m.

Töölö Emergency Department will close on 1 February at 06:00 a.m. and its functions will be combined into the functions of the emergency department in Meilahti. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic will also become a part of the Meilahti Emergency Department.

From February 1, the Meilahti Emergency Department will operate in three hospital properties: At Haartman Hospital, the Tower Hospital and the Bridge Hospital.

Patients arriving at the Emergency Department independently still come through the doors of Haartman Hospital, where they are first assessed for the need for treatment and then referred to the emergency clinic.

Smoother care processes and the latest technology

The patient's needs and experience have been the starting point for the planning of Bridge Hospital. In addition, treatment processes have been considered from a new perspective.

“The transfer of Töölö Hospital functions to Meilahti Hospital area will facilitate patient care, as all medical specialties can genuinely work together,” says Jarkko Pajarinen, Director of Musculoskeletal and Plastic Surgery.

Especially the treatment of severely injured trauma patients will become more effective. A RAPTOR suite will be introduced at the Bridge Hospital, where a severely injured patient can be examined and treated entirely in the same space.
