HUS is preparing to permanently relocate childbirth services from Lohja Hospital to the Women’s Hospital, Espoo Hospital, and Hyvinkää Hospital. The relocation has been planned together with representatives from the staff.
The aim is to relocate the childbirth services from Lohja to other HUS maternity hospitals, that is Women’s Hospital, Espoo Hospital, and Hyvinkää Hospital, on December 1, 2024. According to this schedule, the relocation will progress gradually, so that patients giving birth will be admitted to Lohja Hospital until November 27, 2024, 8 a.m.
Options and solutions for the staff members are negotiated with the trade unions during the ongoing co-determination negotiations, which cover the entire HUS staff. The final details of the relocation will be certain only after the co-determination negotiations are over and any changes to the operational plan are possible.
Preparations for relocation are based on the decision made by the HUS executive board on June 17, 2024, according to which the Lohja Hospital's profile will change. All HUS maternity hospitals follow the Family- and Baby-Friendly Initiative. Expecting parents are welcome to familiarize themselves with the maternity hospitals at our online prenatal classes.
