At the Gynecological Outpatient Clinic at Hyvinkää Hospital, we do hysteroscopies, urinary incontinence surgeries, balloon thermal endometrial ablations, cervical loop diathermy, and we also have sex counselor's appointments available.
The Gynecological Outpatient Clinic is located on the hospital’s second floor, in connection with the delivery rooms and the Maternity Outpatient Clinic. Patients come to our outpatient clinic on a referral. Before arriving for your appointment, you will usually receive a patient history form and a symptom inquiry form for filling out.
At the Gynecological Outpatient Clinic, we treat patients with gynecological diseases or problems. The most common causes for appointments at our clinic include menstrual disturbances, various pain states, urinary incontinence, and gynecological tumors. We also conduct abortions in the outpatient clinic. A vaginal ultrasound examination is a common examination conducted at the clinic.
The treatment of cancer patients has been concentrated in Women’s Hospital; in Hyvinkää we examine suspected cases of cancer. In addition, we treat patients in the palliative phase in cooperation with the palliative care team of the Joint Municipal Authority of Central Uusimaa Health and Social Services (Keusote). At Hyvinkää, we also carry out basic examinations for infertility, after which possible treatment takes place in the Reproductive Medicine Unit in Helsinki. In addition, we offer appointments with a sexual therapist.
If, based on your visit, we estimate that the treatment of your illness requires a surgical procedure, we will perform the procedure either in the operating room or at our outpatient clinic. We perform hysteroscopies, urinary incontinence surgeries, balloon thermal endometrial ablation procedures, and cervical loop electrosurgical excision procedures at our outpatient clinic. After these outpatient procedures, you will be discharged in a few hours after the procedure.
Our operating room has been renovated in 2019. Some of the surgical procedures are carried out as joint surgeries with a specialist in gastric surgery, urologist, and gynecologist. We have strong expertise in both vaginal operations and endoscopic surgery. The vast majority of patients are discharged from ambulatory surgery on the same day. However, sometimes the patient requires monitoring until the next morning, after which they will be transferred to recover on an inpatient ward.
The care is provided by a physician and a nurse working together. Our physicians include both specialists in gynecology and doctors specializing in gynecology and obstetrics who always have the opportunity to consult a more experienced specialist if necessary. In our appointments, we use a lot of patient history forms and symptom inquiry forms, which allows us more time to focus on reflection and individual counseling on treatment options. Our aim is to try and handle matters flexibly during a single outpatient visit.
Sexual therapy
In sexual therapy, you will be able to reflect on your own sexuality, and the potential challenges associated with it, together with a professional. You will receive information, support, and tools to facilitate resolving your situation.
Common reasons for having a sexual therapy appointment include pains during intercourse, vulvodynia, infertility, disparity of sexual desire, and the effect of obstetric trauma on sexuality. You are welcome to arrive alone or together with your partner for the appointment with the sexual therapist.
