On the Pediatric Clinical Neurophysiology ward of the New Children's Hospital, we conduct neurological examinations especially for pediatric patients in neurology, intensive care unit, emergency services and inpatient wards.

Come in through door D (after 3:00 p.m., through the main entrance). Register in the elevator lobby of section D and take the elevator to the clinical neurophysiology floor. When you arrive at the clinical neurophysiology ward, register again at the unit’s self-registration kiosk.

We only conduct examinations by appointment. The appointment will be made for you, and you will be informed by letter.

In the clinical neurophysiology ward, we conduct EEG examinations, i.e. electroencephalography measurements. An EEG examination can be used to determine, for example, the status of seizure symptoms, acute brain injuries or developmental disorders. We also conduct ENMG examinations, i.e. studies of electrical activity in the peripheral nervous system and muscles to clarify possible nerve damage and muscle disorders.

Our unit is responsible for all pediatric studies to be performed during sleep (polysomnography studies, PSG) in the HUS area and also the most challenging cases on a national level for the purpose of investigating various types of respiratory disturbances during sleep and abnormal tendencies of falling asleep. In addition, a number of other neurological examinations are carried out in the ward, such as the so-called evoked potential tests used in studying long nerve pathways. We are the only clinical neurophysiology unit in Finland focused on examinations of children and adolescents.
