Child psychiatric treatment at clinics
Keywords:We examine and treat children under the age of 13 at child psychiatry clinics.
We treat children with debilitating emotional and behavioral disorders. These may include:
- severe behavioral disorder,
- severe mood swings,
- suicidal tendencies,
- repeated anxiety, depression or fears,
- severe interaction problems or
- severe eating disorders.
Treatment usually begins with an examination period, during which we meet with the child and the parents. Our aim is to gain a comprehensive impression of the child’s problems and resources.
We work closely with the parents in order to be able to support the child’s mental health and functional capacity in the best possible way.
We prepare a treatment plan in cooperation with the family. Treatment for the child may include one-on-one sessions, family meetings and group therapy. With the parents’ consent, we also work with adults in key roles in the child’s life (e.g. teachers or daycare personnel).
Children are referred to our unit by their physician. Appointments are free of charge for the family.
