Appointment booking instructions for laboratory and imaging examinations

You can book a laboratory appointment online. When booking, you will receive instructions on cancelling or rescheduling your booked appointment.

You can use the Maisa patient portal for booking appointments for some imaging examinations. Book an appointment via Maisa.

All imaging appointments for children under 16 years of age can only be made by phone.

Check the opening hours of the laboratories on our website. You can also ask about the opening hours in the chat in the bottom of this page.

The following common X-ray examinations are conducted without appointment:

• bone and lung imaging 
• dental imaging.

For these examinations, you are free to choose the location where you go for your examinations. Find the most suitable X-ray unit from our walk-in X-ray units.

If you have received a referral for

• scoliosis imaging
• lower limb mechanical axis measurement

Exceptions to making appointments:

If you are coming to an ultrasound examination of the mammary gland for a person under 35 years of age in Porvoo or Lohja Hospital, book an appointment by phone:

• Lohja Hospital X-ray unit, tel. 019 380 1230 (Mon–Fri 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.)

Please take previous mammography images with you, if you have had examinations done elsewhere than a HUS Hospital.

We do not perform breast cancer screening. They are carried out by your wellbeing services county. For your screening schedule or invitation, please contact health services in your wellbeing services county.

We carry out bone density measurements in the Elielinaukio X-ray unit, Park Hospital, Hyvinkää Hospital, and Jorvi Hospital.

In the examination, it is important that the measurement is always done using the same device. The examination unit is determined by your home municipality. 

Adults coming for examination at the Elielinaukio X-ray unit, can book an appointment by phone via our customer service.

If your bone densitometry is in a unit other than Elielinaukio, you will receive the date and time in a letter.

If you are arriving for the following examinations, we will send you a letter to your home address with details of the appointment. 

• magnetic resonance imaging
• computed tomography
• sleep studies
• EEG (electroencephalography)
• ECG (electrocardiogram)
• polysomnography to be conducted at home
• ENG (neurography/electroneuromyography)
• scintigraphy of kidney function

For some polysomnography studies at home, you can book an appointment online. You will receive instructions in a letter sent to your home address.

HUS Ophthalmology is responsible of fundus photography screening for diabetics in Helsinki and Uusimaa wellbeing services counties. You can book an appointment for examination online via the Maisa portal or by calling our customer service.
