Remote Appointments at Emergency Department
You can get a remote appointment by calling the Medical Helpline 116117, where we will assess the need for emergency care and the urgency. Calls are taken by a nurse who assesses the child’s treatment needs and gives recommendations on how to proceed. If a remote appointment is suitable considering the symptoms, overall situation, and wishes of the child and guardian, a video appointment with a doctor will be held in Maisa, the online portal for health care customers.
The service is provided by Uusimaa Medical Helpline, maintained by HUS, to which calls are routed from the Uusimaa region, excluding Helsinki.
If your symptoms become worse while you wait for your remote appointment, go to your nearest emergency department or call 112.
In life-threatening situations (chest pain, acute shortness of breath, unconsciousness, stroke symptoms, seizure), call the general emergency number 112.
