Digital development
We are promoting HUS's journey towards its strategic goals. Together with our core activities, we work for the benefit of the patients, health care professionals, and municipalities in our region.
The Apotti system is supplied by Oy Apotti Ab, which is co-owned by HUS and the cities of Helsinki, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kerava, Loviisa, and Tuusula, as well as the municipalities of Kirkkonummi, Inkoo, Lapinjärvi, and Siuntio.
With this large-scale project, we are able to develop health and social services. The aim is to create a regionally uniform health and social services information system for speeding up the transfer of patient data safely between different actors.
The Apotti system includes a customer portal, Maisa, which enables a data-secure communication link between patients and professionals.

We develop customer-driven and effective digital services for patients, health care professionals, and municipalities in our region. With the right kind of digitalization, we are able to promote the quality, cost-effectiveness, and customer experience of health care.
In the solutions, we utilize cloud-based services, health technology, AI-powered applications, and data mining, among other things. Quality and effectiveness are monitored through customer feedback collection, reporting, and eHealth research.
In the utilization of artificial intelligence, we are one of the most progressive specialist medical care actors developing AI solutions for demanding clinical use. In particular, we support AI research and development aimed at facilitating or improving patient care in specialist medical care. Our focus in AI activities is currently on intensive care and medical imaging, both of which have large amounts of data to utilize.
We utilize AI-based tools in predictive and advanced analytics. We have the necessary certificates (ISO 9001 and ISO 13485) to act as a manufacturer for AI-based software used by health and social services for patient care (CE marked software). The quantity and quality of data is a key factor in the creation of AI-based models.
We have expertise in managing and utilizing extensive datasets. For our part, we are able to produce data based on research permits and support the production of data pursuant to the Act on Secondary Use of Health and Social Data.
