HUS has launched Maisa, a common, secure, and free online channel for social welfare and health care services. Maisa can be used by all residents over 10 years old in municipalities that use the Apotti system and also by all HUS patients regardless of their place of residence. Maisa registration requires strong electronic identification. Online Banking credentials, mobile certificates or electronic identity cards can be used.
Maisa can be used with a browser (maisa.fi) or by downloading the Maisa app from a device´s app store.

Appointments can be booked to some HUS units. An appointment order made by a professional activates an option to book appointments.
Maisa can be used to send messages to care units.
Messages related to appointments can be sent before and after for up to six months.
All letters can be found in the messages section.
Letter attachments can be found in the section “Document Center” under “My Documents” section.
Use Maisa to view your past and upcoming events.
Test results as well as Upcoming tests and examinations can be viewed using this link.
“Health Summary” and “Medication” information can be viewed here.
Treatment related questionnaires and preliminary information forms, as well as self-assessment forms can be filled in here.
Referral progress can be tracked by clicking on the referral number.
Adults may authorize a person of age to act on their behalf. Legal guardians of children under 12 years old have automatically the right to act on their behalf.
Phone number and email can be updated in the Personal Information section. Personal address information is updated automatically via the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.
Notifications can be managed in the Notification settings.

Maisa logging requires strong electronic identification. Finnish Online Banking credentials, mobile certificates or electronic identity cards can be used.
Maisa terms and conditions must be accepted at first time logging. Consent is given to social and healthcare service providers using Apotti and affiliated services.
After logging, please add the following contact information: email and mobile phone number. Notifications can be turned on to receive latest personal updates. Once changes have been made, confirm changes.
Please note! Maisa does not notify unless notifications are turned on.
Next, select Notifications from the menu to check contact information.
Notification settings can be managed in Maisa. Topics and types of notifications can be activated and de-activated according to personal preference. In addition, laboratory result notifications can be sent individually or as daily summaries.

The function Prepare for your visit activates every three months if no questionnaires are related to the appointment.
The function Prepare for your visit will become available seven days before the appointment.
It can be accessed by clicking the button Prepare for your visit on the front page or on the appointment’s information page.
Please check and update contact information if necessary. Please note! Personal address information is updated automatically via the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. When ready, select Next to proceed.
Please check contact persons or next of kins contact information. Please add necessary information if missing. Select Next to proceed.
Please review all listed medications and verify that the list is up to date and correct. Update if necessary. All changes are reviewed and confirmed by professionals. Select Next to proceed.

If the appointment requires filling in forms or questionaries, select Next to proceed.
If the appointment does have not any prerequisites, a “Submit” button will appear. Select Submit to proceed.
Please fill in the form and select Next to proceed.
Preparation process can be paused at any time by selecting Finish later. The preparation process can be continued by selecting "Prepare for you visit” on Maisas start page.
Once all preparations are done, select Submit.
Please note! Once submitted, forms cannot be edited.
Once all appointment prerequisites are met, Maisa will indicate successful completion.

Appointment confirmations are currently sent by both mail and Maisa eLetter. Mailed letters may contain questionaries and forms related to appointments. For the time being, these are features that cannot be changed, but they will be phased out gradually.
Notifications about new eLetters are sent according personalized notication settings.
Letters can be viewed from the Start page or by selecting Letters from the menu. An unread letter appears in bold and marked as “new”. Select the letter to open and read it.
Please note! Some letters may contain attachments. Click the link at the top of each eLetter to see attachments.
Attachments may include, for example, appointment arrival instructions, questionnaires and forms related to appointments. Please note! Questionnaires sent to Maisa can be answered within Maisa.
All letters are stored in the “Letters” section in the main menu. Attachments can be found in the “Document Center” under “My Documents”.

Messages can be sent to outpatient clinics once an appointment has been made. Messages related to appointments can be sent six months in advance and six months after the appointment.
Select "Ask a question" from the menu or Message section.
Select "Send a message" and "Submit a question about care or services". Next select best related subject. A list of possible recipients will appear.
Write a descriptive topic and a short description into the message. Attachments can also be included.
Please note! Currently videos cannot be attached to messages. When ready, Select "Send".
Professionals will respond to messages as soon as possible, but no later than within 3 days.
Please note! Messages are visible to more than one related professional and will be added to customer and patient information, even if they are deleted from Maisa.
Messages can be viewed in the "Message Center" section. The "Conversations" section includes all sent and received messages.
Message titles show the message sender.
Automated messages are directed into their own folder.
Unread messages are shown in bold. Messages can be read by clicking them open.
Messages can be replied to if they contain a "Reply" button.
Messages can be bookmarked. Bookmarked messages can be viewed in the Message Center.

Results of laboratory tests and imaging examinations will trigger notifications. Notifications are sent by SMS or email, depending on personal notification settings.
Test results can be viewed from the start page or under "Test Results" in the menu.
The test results can be checked either by event or as single results.
Unread test results are shown in bold with a blue dot. Results that are outside the reference range are marked with a red exclamation point. To view more, select a row of interest.
Show previous results allows viewing the latest results with a chart and a graph.
Upcoming tests can be viewed by selecting "Upcoming Tests and Procedures" in the menu. It shows all upcoming examinations.
Please note! In special care, the shown examination date does not correlate to actual examination date. A letter with instructions will be sent separately. Some examinations are done at designated times and others can be chosen at convenience.
Examinations cannot be entered until further information and instructions are given.
The “Book Appointment" button will only appear when a professional has granted access rights to Maisa booking.
Examination reminders will appear in Maisa start page. Reminders can be hidden by selecting the "Hide" button.
Examination orders have deadlines. Maisa will send a notification one week before the deadline if an examination has not been visited. If there are old examinations in the ‘Upcoming Tests and Procedures’, please contact relevant care unit. The unit will remove any old or incorrect examination orders from the system.

Upcoming events are visible at Maisa start page. Select "Events" to see more details.
All upcoming events are shown at the top. Event details such as, visit preparations, rescheduling and cancellations, when possible, can be viewed here. Details about scheduled appointments can be found in appointment letters.

Past events can be viewed in the "Past Events" section along with related notes and summaries. Notes include, for example statements, doctors records or nursing summaries. Select here to view event notes.

An appointment can be booked via Maisa when a professional has granted access rights to Maisa booking by opening an appointment or an imaging ticket.
Notifications about new appointments will be sent based on “Notification settings”.
The new appointment option will appear on Maisas start page. Select “Schedule now” to book appointment.
Choose Book an appointment in the menu to go to the Appointment desk. All available appointments that can be booked are shown at the “Appointment Desk”.
Some appointments have fixed locations and others have different locations to choose from.
Go to appointment booking.
Maisa shows all the available appointments in the chosen locations.
Select the date and time that suits you best.
Please review all appointment details before verifying.
Any instructions related to the appointment must be read carefully.
The appointment is now booked and verified.
Some appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled. Booked appointments are shown in the section “Upcoming Events”.

Video visits are enabled in Maisa. A professional can book a video visit appointment.
Maisa video visits requires a compatible browser, a camera and a microphone.
Maisa supports all commonly used browsers, except for the Internet Explorer.
Video visit appointments appear at Maisa start page and in the Events section under “Video Visit”.
Select “Begin Visit” to view the details of the upcoming video appointment and instructions for the visit on the “Appointment details” page. Please read the instructions carefully before proceeding.
The “Join Video Visit” button activates 15 minutes before the appointment.
Start the appointment by selecting 'Join video visit'. Maisa will automatically redirect to the browser Teams.

Please note! If a professional is not present the following text will appear: "Don't refresh your browser, stay on this page. The service provider will join soon." Follow instructions accordingly”.
When the professional joins the session, a window where a name can be typed appears. Once name is entered, select "Start now" to proceed.
Please check your camera and microphone settings before selecting "Join now". The professional will see a request to accept and enter the session, thus the appointment will begin.
Video visits can be accessed using the Maisa Mobile App. The process is the same as with a browser.
