Maternity Ward, Lohja Hospital
Keywords:Our cozy ward in Lohja Hospital provides a peaceful place to get to know the baby during the first special days. We follow the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative and provide individual breastfeeding guidance, taking into account the parents’ wishes and the nutritional needs of the newborn.
Our Maternity Ward has double rooms and family rooms. In the family room, the mother and spouse/support person can spend time together getting to know the newborn. We provide each family with individual guidance and counseling according to the family’s needs, and implement the care by taking into account the family’s wishes.
In connection with our unit, there is a Neonatal Monitoring Unit, where we treat newborns requiring special monitoring.
The discharge time depends on the wellbeing of both the mother and baby, as well as the mother's wishes. Our pediatricians will examine the newborn before they get to go home. If the mother wishes for an early discharge with the baby, we will plan the discharge and further treatment individually.
If necessary, the newborn’s follow-up care continues through outpatient appointments. If you experience any challenges with breastfeeding, you can come in for a breastfeeding appointment up until the baby is 2 months old.
Thank you for not using perfumes in our premises.
Visitors may bring flowers to the ward.
