HUS year 2023: Productivity, service production and funding
Productivity
In 2023, we monitored overall productivity trends with two indicators: cost per patient and DRG point cost. The aim was to achieve a 1% reduction in both. Price changes were accounted for in the comparison.
Cost per patient decreased by 2.2% on the previous year to EUR 3,532 on average.
DRG point cost decreased by 5.3% on the previous year.
Service production
The comparable operating volume of medical services was 0.8% over budget while showing an increase of 3.9% on the previous year. Total use of our own service production, measured in EUR, exceeded the budgeted figure by 2.1%.
Funding
In 2023, we withdrew EUR 160 million in new long-term loans and paid EUR 29.6 million in loan amortizations. As at the end of 2023, our loan portfolio stood at EUR 996.2 million. The loan portfolio consisted of long-term loans. Our loan receivables totaled EUR 24.1 million.
Cash and cash equivalents amounted to EUR 130.8 million.
Cash flow sufficiency was 15.1 days, meaning that the minimum objective of 15 days was attained in 2023.
The HUS equity ratio was 14.9%. The minimum objective for the equity ratio was 20%.
